MAINTENANCE AT UNIVERSITY
CONFERENCE WITH MINISTER
The resolution last month announcing the intention of the Canterbury University College Council to spend the first instalment of £50,000 arrears of maintenance and ask the Government to cover the cost has had a response in the form of a letter from the Minister of Education (Mr R. M. Algie) to the chairman of the council (Sir Joseph Ward). A conference among Mr Algie, Sir Joseph Ward, and Mr J. Logie (registrar) has been arranged. The college council passed the resolution because months of negotiations on maintenance had failed to produce satisfaction.
