DEMONSTRATION IN CHURCH

_,. ... . , LONDON, April 15. Fighting broke out at a church service conducted to-night by the Bishop of London (Dr. J. W. C. Wand) when a man jumped un and shouted: “I denounce you for taking part in this heathen service.”

Dr. Wand was opening All Saints’ Church in the London suburb of Notting Hill Gate. The man jumped up as Dr. Wand mounted the pulpit for his address. Then men and women all over the church, stood up and began to chant: "I rebuke you. The worship of graven images is contrary to the Commandments.” and “This service is patterned on the Roman Catholic Mass.”

The priests attending the Bishop struggled with the first interjector and V‘d him down the aisle. Another burly objector was subdued only after a pitched battle with 12 uniformed sea cadets who eventually carried him shnu’der hi n h to the door.

The remainder of the congregation kept calm and the service was resumed later.
