GOLF WOODWARD AND BLANK CUPS

CHRISTCHURCH A BEATEN BY RUSSLEY SECOND-ROUND MATCHES PLAYED The second round of the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association's inter-club competitions for the Woodward and Blank cups was played yesterday afternoon. Christchurch A was beaten in the Woodward Cup by Russley by 4J games to 3j. Waitikiri beat Christchurch B comfortably by 7 games to 1, and Avondale halved with Kaiapoi. In the northern section of the Blank Cup, Hagley beat Waimairi B. Avondale beat Waitikiri B. and Christchurch beat Waimairi A. There were no matches played in the southern section of the competition. Locke and N. von Nida at the Houghton course. Johannesburg. to-day. Locke beat von Nida, 11 up and 9 to play. Locke receives £lOOO for his win, and von Nida receives £5OO. Locke, throughout the match, played better golf, but the margin might have been much reduced had von Nida putted more a curately.
