CHORD WINS DOUBLE (New Zealand Press Association) NELSON, April 15. > The Nelson Jockey Club’s annual meeting opened at Richmond Park in fine weather, before a good attendance. The track was heavy. The totalisator handled £30,345, inclusive of £2550 on the double, compared with £32,685 on the first day at the last meeting in 1949, a decrease of £2550. Results:— FIRST HACK HURDLES, of £250; one mile and a half.—2, 1 YOUNG JOHN 9-5 G. Hampton 1; 4, 3 Arctic Circle 9-1 L. Barr 2; 1,2 Leeston 9-12 D. Arney 3. 3, 4 Cardross; 5, 5 Master Mishna also started. Six furlongs; one mile and a quarter. Cardross was fourth. Time, 3min lOsec. Dividends.—Win: £2 15s.
