DANGER OF NEW WAR
Truman Government Accused
(Rec. 10 pan.) WASHINGTON, April 12. Senator Kenneth Wherry, the Republican minority leader in the Senate, to-day said that the Truman Government, not General MacArthur, was putting the United States in grave danger of a terrible new war. Senator Wherry, broadcasting on a national network, gave his party’s answer td President Truman’s speech last night. Referring to General MacArthur, Senator Wherry said: "Pygmies cannot bring down this giant, this tower of strength, the deserving idol of the American people." The zig-zag, inept foreign policy of Mr Truman and the Secretary of State (Mr Dean Acheson) had brought the United Statgn to the brink of another world war, . Mr Truman's statement that General MacArthur’s policies threatened to start World War HI was
resented by every thinking American familiar with the glorious record of a great statesman, soldier, and patriot. Senator Wherry said General MacArthur needed no defence; he would take care of that when he returned to the United States. Senator Wherry added: “General MacArthur is entitled to his day in court. The American people want to hear whet General MacArthur has to say. They are waiting for his words of wisdom.
