ALLIED POLICY STATEMENT
GENERAL MACARTHUR DENIES RECEIPT (Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 12. In a full-page newspaper advertisement the magazine “Newsweek” today 'printed a message from General MacArthur saying that he had never received any Joint Allied statement on policy in Korea. General MacArthur’s message, the advertisement said, was the result of an account .by “Newsweek” of the White House reaction to General MacArthur’s statement on March 24. In that statement General MacArthur said’that if the United Nations wanted to expand its military operations into attacks on the Chinese mainland it could destroy the military power of Communist China. General MacArthur’s message to "Newsweek” said: “The statement contained in your issue of April 2 to the effect that prior to the issuance of my statement on March 24 of the military situation I had been furnished with a copy of a policy statement by the President, cleared by the Governments having military forces in Korea, is entirely without basis. "In fact I have never seen such a statement and do not know if it even exists. Please publish this in the interests of truth.”
