STRIKERS CANVASS FOR SUPPORT'
REPORT TO POLICE AT GREYMOUTH (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, April 13. In an effort to obtain financial support, representatives of the strikers to-day commenced a canvass of businessmen, including hotelkeepers, at Greymouth, it was reported to the police this morning. In a statement announcing this, the Inspector of Police et Greymouth (Mr A. Johnston) said this afternoon that under the Emergency Regulations anyone who assisted strikers or persons party to a strike, either by cash contributions or in any other way, committed an offence himself.' He warned businessmen against yielding to these ”or else” requests.
