NAVY’S WORK ON WHARVES
(N.w Zealand Preu Association) WELLINGTON, April 13. For the week up to April 13, the Navy’s maximum effort was 198 ratine’s to man ships, said a statement issued to-day by the Navy Office. For the same period an average of 90 ratings a day have been working on the Auckland wharves, with a further 12 on sundry duties. Twenty-one Wrens are also working in the canteen of the wharf.
Ratings from Kaniere who have been emoloyed training compulsory Naval ratings at sea are now working on the Auckland wharves. The Bellona is at New Plymouth, where her crew is loading and unloading merchant ships. The Tauno is at Westport and her crew is loading colliers at Westport and Greymouth.
