CO-OPERATIVE MINES.
OWNERS DIRECTED TO RESUME WORK (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, April 13. Co-operative coal mine owners who work their small collieries on the share and co-operative basis have been directed, to resume production forthwith by the Minister of Mines (Mr W. Sullivan). The owners of these mines do not belong to the major unions, but their mines have keen idle during the present strike. A special roll-call meeting of the Runanga District Co-operative Miners* Union was held this morning to consider the position, but was adjourned until Sunday next, when a further meeting will be held. The terms of the leases granted to co-operative mines stipulate that unless the leaseholders continue normal and regular production to their best of their ability, their leases may be revoked.
