A JOCKEY’S “DREAM HORSE”
G. F. HUGHES’S SUCCESS ON MAINBRACE
Grenville Hughes, New Zealand’s leading horseman this season, has found the champion galloper Malnbrace a jockey's dream horse! In winning percentages alone, Hughes has earned £lO7B in two seasons on the Admiral’s Luck colt. Including Mainbrace (15 wins), Hughes haa ridden 55 winners so far this season, and his winning rides in seven and threequarter seasons total 304. He had '42 mounts before he rode his first Winner (a* an apprentice in the 1942-43 season), but since then he ha* ridden winners consistently. There are still three months and a half before the present season ends, and. with average luck and without Mainbrace (he ha* finished racing for the season). Hughes should add many more winners to his already imposing total.
