LAND SETTLEMENT Sir,—ln a recent issue the Minister of Lands commented on the high proportion of settlement of servicemen in Canterbury. Before the Government assumed office its leader stated that it would have all former returned servicemen settled within 12 months'. After 18 months there is still no sign of all servicemen being settled. Five years ago I applied for a farm grading, and was duly graded “A,” but was told that I would have to wait until the bulk of former servicemen had been settled as I did not have sufficient service. I volunteered for overseas service when 19 years of age, but I was sent to a non-combat area. I find now that I am being penalised for that. Surely if it was good enough to don a uniform and proceed overseas it is good enough to get a lair deal. How many others are confronted with the same barrier?—Yours, etc.. SADLY DISILLUSIONED.
