NOTICE TO M.E.D. CONSUMERS NOTICE TO M.E.D. CONSUMERS 5% POWER-SAVING ESSENTIAL 5% POWER-SAVING ESSENTIAL Although the allocation of electricity in this area for 1951/52 shows a 5% increase, the actual rate of consumption through the extended use of electricity exceeds 10%. This means that WE MUST IMMEDIATELY REDUCE OUR CONSUMPTION OF ELECTRICITY BY APPROXIMATELY 5% TO KEEP WITHIN OUR ALLOCATION. This is a matter which is vital to us all, and affects everyone’s interests. Your prompt and careful assistance and your usual co-operation in conserving units are URGENTLY REQUIRED. All consumers can, and undoubtedly will, help the situation by ELIMINATING ALL WASTE OF ELECTRICITY. TURN OFF UNNEEDED LIGHTS, RADIATORS, AND ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT NOT IN ACTUAL USE. The following restrictions are now in force. DOMESTIC WATER HEATERS NOT TO BE USED BETWEEN 2 AND 6 P.M. OUTSIDE SHOP AND SHOP WINDOW LIGHTING PERMITTED FROM NOON UNTIL MIDNIGHT. NEON AND ADVERTISING SIGNS PERMITTED FROM 5.30 P.M. UNTIL MIDNIGHT. OFFICE RADIATORS NOT TO BE USED AFTER NOON DAILY. INDOOR AND OUTDOOR LIGHTING OF SPORTS GROUNDS PERMITTED ONLY 3 NIGHTS PER WEEK (DUSK TO 9.30 P.M.). CONSERVE ELECTRICITY NOW AND ENSURE A REGULAR WINTER SUPPLY. IN ADDITION TO* THE ABOVE SITUATION, THERE IS ADDED THE MISHAP TO THE WAITAKI GENERATOR. CONSUMERS ARE THEREFORE ASKED TO REDUCE LOAD AT PEAK HOURS: BTO 8.30 A.M., 11 A.M. TO NOON, AND 1.30 TO 5.30 P.M.
