The close season for the taking of seals has been extended for a further three years by an amendment to the Seal Fishery Regulations which was gazetted last night. An amendment to the Oyster Fishing Regulations, which was also gazetted, makes it an offence to be in possession of an oyster dredge on a vessel in any waters adjacent to the South Island and Stewart Island during the close season, except with the written permission of an inspector of fisheries, and subject to the conditions, imposed by him —(P.A.)
