MR PACE IN KOREA
ARMY SECRETARY MEETS TROOPS
(Rec. 10 p.m.) TOKYO, April U, The United States Army Secretary <Mr Frank Paet) arrived in Korea by air yesterday "to see what the problems of officers and men In the front line are like." The announcement of his visit was held up for 24 hours for security reasons. The Bth Army commander (General Matthew Ridgway) met Mr Pace. Mr Pace told correspondents that by seeing the fighting first-hand he could do a better job of representing the fighting men.
Mr Auriol Back in France.—The President of France <Mr Vincent Auriol) returned to Paris to-day after his official visit to the United States and Canada. The Prime Minister (Dr. Henri Queuille) met Mr Auriol and the Foreign Minister (Mr Robert Schuman) whs accompanied him, at the Orly airfield.—Paris, April 19.
