WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Motukarara.—Final arrangements for the twentyflrst birthday party were made at the March meeting of the Motukarara branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Mrs Wagner presided. In response to the Dominion appeal for the blind the amount of £3 3s was sent from the branch. Competitions for the month resulted as follows:—jar of jelly: Miss R. Jenkin 1, Mrs G. Thompson 2, Mrs J. Miller 3. Flowers: Miss Jenkin 1, Mrs H. Stevens 2 and 3. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Stevens and Mias Jenkin.

Brooklands.—The following officers were elected at the second annual meeting of the Brooklands branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers, which was held at the home of Mrs T. Simmons: president, Mrs W. G. Scott; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames P. Duffield and Black; secretary-treasurer, Mrs D. Mclntosh; committee, Mesdames Y. Kaan, Valle, D. Radford, D. Sullivan, J. Cammock, and Miss A. Radford. Members decided that the president, secretary and Mrs Simmons be delegates to the provincial executive meetings. Monthly competitions resulted as follows:—cooking; Mrs Lysaght 1, Mrs Simmons and Mrs I. Radford (equal) 2. Large bloom; Mrs Black 1, Mrs Simmons 2. Small bloom: Mrs Black 1, Mrs MacLeod 2. Spika: Mrs MacLeod I, Mrs Black 2.

Halswell.—An increase in membership for the year was reported by Mra R. J. Lang, who was re-elected president at th? annual meeting of the Halswell branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. The balace-sheet showed a satisfactory credit balance. Generous donations had been made to the community chest, the housekeeper fund, and a United Nations appeal. Parcels of food had also been sent to Britain. A brief report on the interprovincial conference, which she attended with the secretary (Mrs Kolkman) was given by Mrs Lang. The remit sponsored by the branch was passed unanimously. Competitions for the month resulted as follows:—darn done at the meeting: Mrs Chapman 1, Mrs Gates 2, Mrs Clark 3. Hydrangea basket: Mrs Rogers 1, Miss Pike 2, Mrs Muir 3. Large bloom: Mrs Silvester 1, Mrs Symes 2, Mrs Chapman 3. Medium bloom: Mrs Rogers 1. Mrs Chapman 2, Mrs Symes 3. Small bloom: Mrs Hunt 1, Mrs Silvester 2, Mrs Rogers 3. Spike or cluster; Mrs Kogers I, Mrs Muir 2, Mrs Chapman 3. Southbrook. —The following officers were "lected at the annual meeting of the Southbrook branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers:—President. Mrs L. F. Roon Hay.—The following officers were elected at the first annua! meeting of the Hoon Hay branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers President Mrs E. Rountree; vice-president, Mesdames Andrew, Michael and Rennie; secretary, Mrs M. C. Treneary; sales table steward, Mrs Brown: door steward, Mrs Luke; committee. Mesdames Keith, Brandon, Hoskins, Kitchen and Luke. After the election Mrs Chapman gave a talk on the aims of the divismn.

Greenpark.—Mrs Fairweather (Christchurch) presided at the annual meeting of the Greenpark branch of Women's Division of Federated Farmers. The report of the president (Mrs Watson) showed that the activities of the branch had been well maintained and that membership had been substantially increased. The balance sheet showed a satisfactory position financially. The following officers were elected President. Mrs D. Watson; vice-presidents, Mesdamej L. -Dulieu and E. J. Bennett; secretary, Mrs E J. Stalker; advisory members, Mesdames Watson and Harris: sales table steward, Mrs L. Eden; competition steward, Mrs W.
