DELIBERATE FIRE ON LINER
INQUIRY’S FINDING
(Rec. 10 p.m.) OTTAWA, April 9. The fire that destroyed the St. Lawrence river cruise liner, the Quebec. On August 14, 1950, With the loss of seven lives, was set deliberately, the Government-appointed commissioner said to-day. Mr Justice Bernard Choquette, of the Quebec Superior Court, in a report tabled in the House of Commons, said the fire was deliberately set by one or several perrons whose identity had not been established. He also reported that the fire alarm system aboard the Quebec had been deliberately put out of commission by a person or persons unknown.
