ACCIDENTS
YOUNG GIRL INJURED DRESS CAUGHT IN CAR’S SHAFT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 10. A small girl was badly hurt when her dress caught in the open drive shaft of a car yesterday afternoon. The girl, Diane Barton, aged five, of 3 Ridlers crescent, Petone, was sitting in the back of a car which had haa all the floor boards removed. When her dress caught in the end of the drive shaft, it was wound round it until she was drawn in close to. the shaft. She received concussion, shock, multiple fractures to her right arm and bad head cuts and bruises. She was taken by ambulance to the Hutt Hospital which reported her condition to be fair.
