MR J. PRENDEVILLE (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 5. Mr James Prendeville, one of New; Zealand's best-known Rugby adminis- . trators, has died in Wellington at the I age of 75. : Mr Prendeville represented New ; Zealand at the international Rugby conference in London in 1935, and was . well-known in Australia, South Africa , and the United Kingdom. He was also Crown Solicitor in Wellington in 1917.

MR J. F. MCGRATH (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 5. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr John Francis McGrath, in his eighty-first year. He ranked as the finest sculler ever produced in Otago, and rowed for more than 60 years, > even up to a fortnight before his death He won the New Zealand championship single sculls six times, first in 1892-93 and last in 1903-04. He won the championship double sculls five times, once with the late Mr G. Hogan in 1897-98, and on four successive occasions from 1900-01 partnered by the late Mr Maurice Priest. This pair established a record that stood for many yean. In 1906 Mr McGrath visited Britain, and on his return added to a remark- . able list of successes for the Otago , Rowing Club in fours, pairs, double sculls, and single sculls. He raced ! for the last time in 1920 as a member of a senior four. - He was afterward president and then patron of the Otago Rowing Club and was , made a life member many years igo. He was the senior partner ! in the firm of Messrs J. McGrath and Company, tent makers. ,
