UNEMPLOYMENT FEARED

(Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, March 3. The political correspondent of the “Sunday Dispatch” says Mr Attlee has told President Truman that Britain will have more than 2,000.000 unemployed unless America helps with more raw materials. The newspaper said the sulphur shortage alone was threatening unemployment to 1,230.000 persons. Other shortages would more than double the figure. Metals and other materials were so short that the Government could not plan ahead for industry and the defence programme, said the newspaper. British business experts were negotiating with the American Government to avert widespread hold-ups because of the shortages.
