Laymen Advised Against Membership (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) t ROME, January 12. The Vatican has issued a decree forbidding priests to join Rotary clubs and advising Roman Catholic laymen to abstain from membership. The Holy Office based its advice to laymen on Article 684 of the Code of Canon Law. ' - The decree laid down two rulings. The first concerned Rotary clubs and the other warned members of the Church against “secret, seditious, and suspected organisations and associations, which seek to conceal themselves from the legitimate vigilance of the Church.”
