COAL CRISIS IN BRITAIN
Railway Services Reduced (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 10. Nearly 500 . London suburban trains will be taken oqt of service next week as part of tha "save coal” drive to beat Britain’s fuel crisis. Other parts of Britain will also have many trains taken off. The National Union of Mineworkers has accepted the Coal Board’s offer of immediate increases of 7s a week for underground workers and 5s a week in the minimum wage for surface workers. In return the miners have promised to co-operrte fully in raising production. The increase brings the minimum rates to £6 5s for underground workers and £5 10s for surface workers. The increase will cost the board about £6.000.000 a year.
