N.Z. YACHTS SENT TO AUSTRALIA
INTERNATIONAL 18-FOOTER CONTEST
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 12. The four yachts. Tarua, Beverley 11. Result, and Harmony, and their crews left by the Monowai to-day for Australia. where they will compete in the J. J. Giltinan international 18-footer contest. The Takiri, which will be the emergency, also left by the Monowai. The three races will be held on January 27 and 30 and February 4. Mr R. Killeen is the manager of the party. Two Auckland yachts, Marlyn and Myth, will compete in a New Zealand restricted 18-footer championship, to be held on the Waimakariri estuary on January 20 and 21. The Myth, which has given some outstanding performances in the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s H class events, will be raced by Mr D. H. Skelton, who purchased it last week from Mr L. K. Davidson, owner of the Auckland Sanders Cup representative, Arrow. The Marilyn, which will represent the Northcote Yacht Club, is owned by Mr D. Patten.
The boats have also been entered for the Canterbury Centennial Regatta on January 27 and 28, at Lyttelton.
