A trough of low pressure is crossing the South Tasman Sea from the west. Forecast: moderate north-easterly winds, fresh on the coast. Weather: fine, with rising temperatures. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Northerly winds, freshening in the afternoon. Weather fair and mild, but cloud increasing, with a chance of rain at night.
