LADY ANDERSON
ENGLISH BLOODHOUND BREEDER A move to revive the breeding of bloodhounds has been started by Lady Anderson, wife of Sir John Anderson, chairman of the Port of London Autnor ty, who has arrived on a visit to New Zealand. Lady Anderson, who said that there were about 100 true bloodhound' in England, recently sold six pups from her kennels in Isfleld. Sussex, to America. The dogs nearly became extinct in England during the war. when there was not enough food for them. A sister of the English artist. Joce-
lyn Eodley. Lady Anderson studied art in Paris, but had to give up this career because of ill-health. She has. however. a deep interest in modern art, and collects pictures of French impressionists and English moderns. While in Australia she purchased pictures by Australian artists.
Sir John Anderson and Lady Anderson have a home in London, at Westminster. that is furnished with eighteenth century French furniture. Lady. Anderson also collects rare white china.
Lady Anderson's knowledge of antiques led to her appointment as the only woman committee member of the Gower Committee, instituted by Sir Stafford Cripps to evolve a plan of preserving old country homes for their history and tradition. She shares an interest in music with her husband, who is chairman of the Covent Garden Onera. and also shares his interest in politics.
Miss Lait. secretary to Sir John Anderson for five years, has accompanied Sir John Anderson and Lady Anderson to New Zeaiand.
