CANOE TRIPS

Sir,—l have read with interest the letters of D. MacMillan and others and may be able to add a little more. Several years before World War II members of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club carried out several trips down some of the major rivers of Canterbury, the most outstanding trip being from Lake Heron down the Lake Stream into the Rakaia, thence down to the old rail and traffic bridge on the South road. Later, members of the same party and others negotiated the Waimakariri. Ashley and Hurunui. If D. MacMillan is interested my address is available through you.— Yours, etc., J.F.H. January 12, 1951.
