CAMP BUILDINGS AT WAIOURU
£125,000 CONTRACT LET “The Press” Special Service HAMILTON, January 11. A contract valued at £125,000 hag been let by the Army Department to a Hamilton firm for the erection of a series of blocks of buildings designed for the training of soldiers at the Waiouru military camp. The buildings will comprise lecture rooms, schools for the teaching of tactics, carpentry, engineering, specialists, and cadets, as well as standard classrooms and administrative quarter?. Carpenters are being effered £l5 12s a week as wages, plus free accommodation on the job. Difficulty is being experienced in securing the number of men required. Timber, bricks-, and cement are still in short supply, not nearly sufficient being available for all the work the firm has in hand.
