BUILDING PERMITS DECREASE
FIGURES FOR DECEMBER
Fewer building permits were issued in Christchurch during December last year than in the same month of 1949. In the nine months ended December 31 there were also fewer permits than for the corresponding period of the previous year,, but their total value was higher. In December, 1950. 143 permits, for buildings totalling £60,741, were issued. compared with 205 permits representing £94,673, in December of the previous year. Figures for the nine months’ period are: 1960, 1808 permits £1.318,806; 1949, 1854 permits, £982,546 The value of the permits issued in each ward of the city in December last year, with the corresponding figure for December, 1949, in parenthesis, was as follows:
