Gaol For Desertion.— Pleading guilty to a charge of de rting from the overseas ship Tropic at Lyttelton. John Laurence Davis, a seaman, aged 20, who appeared before Messrs F. E. Sutton and F. H. Heal in the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. An order vas made that he be placed aboard fchip before the vessel sails.
