HIGHER TAXES PREDICTED
VIEW OF WELLINGTON MANUFACTURER
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON! November 8. “I forecast that this coming year we are more likely to see an increase in taxation than a decrease.’’ said Mr J. H. Manning, retiring president of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Asso- j ciation. at the association’s annual meeting last night. ! “I have come to this conclusion after looking over Budgets of the last ! 10 to 15 years,’’ he said. “Taxation has continued to increase, and, r venture to say. will increase for a long time yet. How can we expect tax reductions with the international situation as it is? “It is no good going on fooling ourselves. Costs will continue to risfe. We are now experiencing heavy taxation, and if there is not a very drastic change in the international situation we can expect it to be heavier.”
