FREIGHT SURCHARGE TO AUSTRALIA
(Rec. 10 p.m.) MONTREAL, Nov. fl. The Montreal-Australia-New Zealand steamship line announced to-day the introduction of a 10 per cent, surcharge to freight charges on cargo shipped from Eastern Canadian ports to all ports of discharge in Australia, effective on February 1 next year. Officials said that the surcharge was necessary because of the continuance of increased delays in discharging cargoes at various Australian ports.
