SHIP PUTS BACK TO LYTTELTON
WEEVILS DISCOVERED IN . BARLEY CARGO Although no official information is available, it is known that the reason for the return yesterday to Lyttelton of the Shaw Savill and Albion Company’s cargo steamer Tropic was the discovery of weevils in her cargo of barley consigned to Antwerp. The ship sailed from Lyttelton on Thursday for Liverpool and returned yesterday morning. Waterside workers who had loaded the barley say tha: they were aware that the barley was infested with weevils. A start was made yesterday with the discharge of wool which had been stowed above the barley. The Tropic is also carrying tallow and general cargo. ‘
