MINERS’ PAY IN AUSTRALIA
(Ree. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. fl. With the agreement of the mine owners the Coal Industry Tribunal today njade an order for a variation of the miners' award so that all mineworkers in New South Walds will receive the basic wage increase of £1 a week from the first December pay day. The increase will apply to 18,800 employees, and will cost the owneis an additional £951,900 a year; When the Miners’ General President (Mr L. Williams) expressed his appreciation of the owners action la firanting the claim the chairman of the ribunal (Mr F. Gallagher) commented: “I think the attitude of the employers should greatly improve industrial relationships, and should be appreciated by the rank and file in the mining industry.”
