COMMONWEALTH COMMAND

GENERAL SIR HORACE ROBERTSON’S POST

TOKYO, Nov. 5. Lieutenant-General Sir Horace Robertson, commander of the British Commonwealth Occupation Foree, yesterday took over administrative command of all the United Kingdom, Australian, and New Zealand forces in Japan and Korea. This extension of his command, which follows an agreement among the three Governments concerned affects all the land, air and sea forces. It places under General Robertson's administrative command the 27th British Commonwealth Brigade now fighting on the North Korean front, and the 10,000 strpng 29th Independent British Infantry Group at present disembarking at Fusah, in Korea. Commenting on the measure, a British military spokesmen in Tokyo said that hereafter all Commonwealth troops would have the benefit of all the hospital, welfare, administrative and maintenance facilities at present at the disposal of the 8.C.0.F. It was expected that the other Commonwealth nations with forces in Japan and Korea would soon participate in the new command arrangement.
