INTERESTING SOUVENIR

An interesting and much valued possession was exhibited at the centennial gathering of Girl Guides held at the Sign of the Takahe last nigh*. It is a ScrolT of Friendship, which, by devious ways and many strange methods, had travelled from one group of guides to another from Edinburgh to Oxford. It is a gift to New Zealand Girl Guides from the 13th World Conference of Guides held recently at Oxford. and it was presented to Miss Iles, one of the delegates from the Dominion, by Princess Margaret. With it is a log book, generously illustrat ’d, giving an account of the scroll's adventurous journey south from Scotland to Oxford.

Just over £l2OO was collected in Dunedin for the Red Cross Society street day appeal on Friday. Returns from country districts are still to come to hand. The amount collected was about £2OO more than last year.

A talk oq the various homes she visited during her travels in Europe and Scandinavia was given by Miss P. Morrison, who was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Sydenham branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. The gathering this month was held at the home of Mrs Morrison, Aylmer street, Spreydon.
