AIRCRAFT FORCED DOWN

NIGHT LANDING ON ISOLATED BEACH

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 5. An Auster aircraft on a flight from Hastings to Horeke, Hokianga Harbour, was forced down late this evening on an isolated Northland west coast beach. The pilot and owner, Mr E. Gray, of Horeke, and a passenger were reported to be uninjured. It is believed that the plane came down at a small hamlet called Wawerua, said to be half way between the mouth of the Waimamaku river and the Maunganui bluff. The extent of any damage to the plane was not known in Auckland early this morning.

The only message reaching Waipoua forest, the nearest telephone, was that the plane had force landed and the occupants were safe and uninjured.
