GIRL GUIDES’ RALLY AT ENGLISH PARK
Several hundred girl guides and brownies from Christchurch and all parts of Canterbury took part in the march past at a centennial rally held at English Park on Saturday by the Girl Guides’ Association of Canterbury. The Chief Commissioner for New Zealand, Miss R. Herrick, took the Hardy Cookson) were present. The Provincial Commissioner (Miss «. Oakeley), divisional commissioners from Timaru, Mid-Canterbury, Christchurch and North Canterbury, and district commissioners from these areas were also present. The programme included mass exercises, country dancing and a camping display, and a Maori legend was acted by the brownies. The Sydenham Salvation Army band was In attendance.
