PLAN TO IMPROVE BRITISH LAND
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. November S. Under the plan foreshadowed in the King’s speech to tffe House of Commons. the British Government is to spend £40.000.000 to ‘•encourage the rearing of livestock in upland areas. Most of the amount will be devoted to land improvements and equipment, in which landowners and farmers will share equally. .. Ten million pounds feas been allocated for use in approved schemes on hill farms throughout W’™"’ chiefly to increase the output of high quality meat. Scotland will get half ot this allocation. . Upland areas inelude both hill ana marginal terrain which are tural reservoir of store stock, wtn sheen and cattle, reauired by the lowland farmer for finishing into mutton and beef.
