SHOPS TO CLOSE ON SHOW DAY
A whole holiday for Show Day would be observed in Christchurch by all retailers next Friday, said the secretary of the Canterbury Employers' Association (Mr H. F. Rutland) yesterday. Late shopping night will ba observed on Thursday. The Employers’ Association, in conjunction with the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association and the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, has recommended to members that a special centennial holiday ti granted on December 18. the day of the “100 Years of Progress" procession.
