FRIDAY (pefore Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) HARBOURING SON Violet Beatrice Stephen, a married woman, of 12 Southampton street (Mr D. J. Dougall) was convicted and discharged upon pleading guilty to a charge of attempting to cross a railway line when it was not clear. Mr Dougall said that the defendant's car had not been insured, and was a total loss, his wife was still in hospital, and his child had only just returned from hospital. Kearns said the defendants had parked their bicycles at the northern, entrance to Cathedral square in euch a way that traffic had to pull out to the middle of the road to pass them. FINED FOR DRUNKENNESS Phillip Arthur Lampwright, aged 27. a soldier and labourer, was fined £2 for being drunk in Hereford street on November 2, having been convicted of a similar offence within the previous six months. DRIVING WITHOUT DUE CARE Roy Lovell Taylor (Mr T. West) was fined £4 for driving without due care and attention. He pleaded guilty. Sandston) was remanded to appear in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland on November 10 to answer charges of stealing • suit of clothes valued at £l6. the property of Carley Welsh, and of failing to comply with the terms of his release on bail. Samuel Jones, 42. a labourer and salesman, was remanded to appear on November 6 on a charge of stealing a bicycle Valued at £l9. the property of William Ernest Gibbons.
