NO VISAS FOR ALIENS
TEMPORARY BAN BY AMERICA
WASHINGTON, October 13. American Consular officials all over the world have been ordered'to suspend temporarily the issue of visas to aliens planning to enter the United States. The State Department made the order to permit a recheck of individual records because of the tight new internal security law which bars the entry of aliens who have been members of Communist "or other totalitarian” parties. The enforcement of the law has resulted in the detention on their arrival in the United States of several hundred aliens who have been granted entry permits.
- In London, more than 300 persons besieged the United States Embassy this morning seeking the revalidation of the visas on their passports for entry into the United States. Some of them were booked to leave by air for New York to-night. Consulates and embassies in other European cities were also swamped today with persons seeking the revalidation of their visas.
