Group Building Schemes
The Auckland Rehabilitation Committee has decided to ask the Auckland Master Builders’ Association for its opinions and suggestions on group : building schemes. The advantage of such a system, it was said, was the considerable reduction in the cost of each house, as much as £2OO. “Some builders have shown an interest in group building,” said the chairman, Mr E. H. Halstead, M.P., “and one has recently produced a booklet showing 20 different houses which can be erected with similar materials more or J°ss mass produced.” Mr K. W. Davies, district rehabilitation officer, was asKed to consult a group of buyers who might be successful in one of the ballots for surplus State housing sections, and to find out their views on such a scheme.
