To create ease of replacement and repairs, uniform appearance, and ready adaptability, the New Zealand Standards Institute has issued a standard specification for desks in Government offices. The standard establishes minimum requirements relating to materials, construction, and workmanship. They cover the class and grade of timber to be used, the methods of jointing and dimensions for five types of office desks for use in Government offices. It is expected that the standard will simplify the ordering and supply of desks in addition to effecting economy by ensuring that the materials, construction, ♦nd workmanship used in their manufacture will give adequate service The institute considers that the standard should prove equally valuable to orivate interests. .— • -
