U.N. CHILDREN’S FUND

AUTHORITY FOR GIFTS BY LOCAL BODIES (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 6. Authorisation of local body contributions to the 1950 United Nations appeal for children will be included in an early Finance Bill,' according to information received to-day from the Associate Minister of Finance (Mr C. M. Bowden) by Mr Charles S. Falconer. chairman of the Dominion executive of the appeal committee. Mr Bowden also promised exemption from gift duty on all gifts to the appeal. Mr Falconer commented that a number of local bodies had already given to the appeal in anticipation of this authority, and now that the Government had given its promise he was hopeful that many more local authorities would help.
