POLITICS AND PEACE
Sir, —The failure of the League of Nations was not inertia but political bias. The United Nations has the same weakness, only more positively. In both organisations the political arena dominates the judgment bench and judgments arrived at. though perfectly legal, are politically not impartial. The result is war, and will be war. Peace, on account of the savagery in every normal person, is not and cannot be completely available, but more of it can be made available if international law is administered with the impartiality and integrity ot British law. Then it would earn the confidence ot people on both sides of the iron curtain. —Yours, etc.. H. J. BUTTLE. Darfield, August 29, 1950.
