Warning at Level Crossings.—The executive of the South Island Motor Union is in favour of the minimum warning given at level crossings by automatic alarms being reduced from 20 seconds to 10 seconds. This decision was reached on Friday. According to advice from the chief signal and electrical engineer of the Railways Department (Mr C. R. Lovatt)-, 10 seconds wa« the minimum warning period proposed for the fastest trains. For slower trains the period would naturally be longer. 1
