COMMISSIONS IN K FORCE

RECRUITS TO BE CHOSEN FOR COURSE

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 23.

“The calibre of K Force volunteers is high, and some of them will be given an opportunity to gain commissioned rank and fill junior officers’ appointments,” said an Army Headquarters spokesman to-day. “Accordingly a number of men will be chosen to attend the Officer-Cadets Training Unit to begin at Trentham early next month and conclude later at Waiouru. “The candidates will be selected in the three military district camps where the recruits do their basic training, and will then go on to the Army School where the final selection will be made. At the same time a party of officers and a number of selected noncommissioned officers who have served in arms in which they will not be required in K Force will attend a course at Waiouru designed to fit them for service with the new unit.”
