The United States Secretary of Defence, Mr Louts Johnson (above), in testimony given at a committee hearing last month and released today, said: “The Korean situation, I hope, is a six or eight months' proposition.” This would mean ending the war about February, if it is still planned only to push the North Koreans back to their pre-invasion border.—Washington, August 22.
