PANIC BUYING IN PARIS
PARIS, Aug. 2. French housewives, uneasy because of the international situation, have caused a run on the shops, resulting in a shortage of soap, sugar, oil, ana tinned foods. Hoarders have ignored requests by storekeepers not to panic, and one woman spent £5O buying tinned sardines. Travel agencies, however, report few cancellations and business as usual.
