WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS
Port Levy.—An interesting lecture on first-aid and emergencies in the home was given by Dr. P. A. M. Heath, of Lyttelton, who was the guest speaker at the July meeting of the Port Levy branch of the W.D.F.F. In appreciation of his talk, a gift of eggs was made to Dr. Heath, and flowers were presented to Mrs Heath, who accompanied him. The president (Mrs Owen Williams) presided. Competitions resulted as follows:—large bloom: Mrs A. Kilian and Mrs Steele (equal) 1; small bloom: Mrs Turpin and Mrs Helps (squal) 1, Mrs Kilian 2; mantel decoration of leaves and flowers: Mrs Field 1, Mrs Steele 2; eggs: Mrs Griffiths 1, Mrs Blunden 2. The monthly cup was won by Mesdames Kilian and Steele (equal). Rangiora.—One new member was nominated at the July meeting of the Rangiora branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. The president (Mrs E. M. Gibson), who presided, reported on the last meeting of the banquet committee and discussed ways of providing goods for a banquet to be given to elderly persons. An account of the conference in Wellington was also given by Mrs Gibson. Competitions resulted as follows:—large bloom: Mrs Cowans 1, Mrs Hutchison 2, Mrs Matthews 3; small bloom: Mrs Hutchison 1, Mrs Bowman 2, Mrs Nelmes 3. Mesdames Macfarlane, Beyers, and Miss George were hostesses for the afternoon. Governor’s Bay-AUandale.—Three new members were welcomed by the president (Mrs Ford), who presided at the July meeting of the Governor’s Bay-Allandale branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. The chairman of the Mount Herbert County Council (Mr W. G. Witte) and Mr M. J. Foley formed a deputation to ask for the help of members in canvassing part of the council’s area for donations towards the United Nations' appeal for children. Members decided to start collecting immediately. A comprehensive report on the recent Dominion conference in Wellington was given by the delegate, Mrs G. Black. Mrs Ford reported on the provincial executive meeting. Competitions resulted as follows: —bunch of mixed flowers: Mrs Brown 1, Mrs M. J. Foley 2, Mrs Bucktin 3. Large premier bloom: Mrs Foley 1, Mrs Bucktin 2, Mrs Brown 3. Small bloom: Mrs Empson 1, Mrs Brown 3 and
