ANNUAL BALL
CHRISTCHURCH MARCHING ASSOCIATION Marching girls from as far away as Akaroa and Kaiapoi were among the 400 guests who attended the second annual ball of the Christchurch Marching Association held at the Winter Garden. A large poster of the New Zealand Marching Association’s emblem, blue and gold hangings, and humorous sketches on the various teams were included in the decorations. The patron, Sir Ernest Andrews, and Mrs F. Hardy Cookson, the guests of honour, were received by the president, Mr A. W. Fergus, and Mrs Fergus. During the evening the team leaders were presented to the patroh, after which fhe president welcomed all those present. Sir Ernest Andrews spoke of the rapid progress the sport of marching had made since the formation of the association in Christchurch more than two years ago, and wished the executive, instructors, and teams success in the forthcoming season. Major E. W. Boyle was master of ceremonies.
